Three Blyth teams win broomball gold at first-ever Seaforth tournament

Seaforth Junior Broomball held its first-ever tournament over the weekend, hosting dozens of games in both Seaforth and Brussels, in what has been deemed a true success. It certainly was successful for three Blyth teams, who returned home after the weekend with gold medals around their necks.
The U14 Boys, U14 Girls and U16 Girls all triumphed in Seaforth over the weekend. The U14 Boys beat hosts Seaforth by a score of 3-0 in the finals on Sunday, the U14 Girls beat Mildmay by a score of 1-0 in their tournament finals, also on Sunday, and the U16 Girls beat Palmerston by a score of 2-1 that day to win their division championship.
The tournament began on Friday with the U9 Bullets losing to the Mildmay Roosters. The U12 Silver and U14 Boys teams tied their games with the Seaforth Cyclones and Seaforth Hurricanes respectively with the U12 game ending in a scoreless draw and the U14 Boys game ending tied at one.
Also that night the U20 Girls lost to the Palmerston Terminators by a score of 2-1 and the U20 Boys beat the Seaforth Hitmen by a score of 3-1.
The next day, the U14 Girls beat Palmerston by a score of 3-0, the U12 Silver team tied the Mildmay Moose at one, the U9 Bullets lost to the Keady Crocs in Brussels by a score of 8-0 and the U12 Bullets lost to their age division’s Keady Crocs by a score of 3-1, also in Brussels.
The U20 Girls ended their game with the Mildmay Twisted Sisters in a scoreless draw, while the U14 Boys beat Palmerston in Brussels by a score of 6-0. The U16 Girls fought to a scoreless draw with Palmerston in Brussels, as did the U14 Girls with Mildmay, also in Brussels.
The U12 Bullets lost to the Mildmay Hawks by a score of 3-0, while the U14 Boys beat Mildmay in Brussels by a score of 1-0, the U12 Silver team beat the Mildmay Falcons by a score of 3-0 and the U12 Bullets made the trip to Brussels from Seaforth to beat Palmerston by a score of 2-1. The U20 Boys beat the Seaforth Hitmen that day by a score of 3-1, the U16 Girls beat the Seaforth Tornadoes by a score of 4-0 and the U20 Girls lost to Mildmay by a score of 1-0.
That paved the way for a Sunday in which the U14 Boys, U14 Girls and U16 Girls all won gold on Sunday.
On Tuesday, the U12 Bullets and U12 Silver teams were scheduled to take on the Hawks and Falcons in Mildmay, respectively, while the U20 Boys were to host the Outlaws and the U20 Girls were to welcome the Royals to Blyth, but scores for those games were unavailable at press time.
Those are the final games on the 2024 schedule for Blyth Junior Broomball. The league returns for regular season play on Saturday, Jan. 4 when the U9 Bullets play Seaforth, the U12 Silver team plays the Mildmay Moose, the U12 Bullets play the Mildmay Falcons, the U14 Boys play Seaforth and the U16 Boys also play Seaforth, all in Blyth.
