Robert Wayne “Bob” Richmond
Robert Wayne “Bob” Richmond passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home in Brussels, on June 27 in his 84th year.
The loving husband of Rene (Myers) for 65 years, Bob was the proud dad of Bonnie Richmond and Steve Watson, John Richmond, and Brenda and Bert Sjaarda.
He was the adoring grandpa “Pa” of Garrett, Kirsten, Tyson, Kaytee, Erinn, Austin, Cody, Madison and Quintin and great “Grandpa Brussels” to 14 great-grandchildren he adored.
Bob started his career doing various tasks at McCutcheon Motors and worked himself up to be owner of the company. He loved his work, his customers and all the connections he made. Bob enjoyed his work so much that he continued in his occupation well past retirement years
Bob was born in Listowel Hospital to Janet and Grayson Richmond and spent his younger years at Listowel High, where he met his high school sweetheart Rene Myers. They married in 1959 were blessed with three children. Bob was always a community man and was an active, lifelong member of the Brussels Lions Club, Brussels United Church and the Oddfellow Lodge. He also coached and mentored many baseball and hockey teams.
Bob loved old cars and enjoyed attending local car shows. He was fortunate to travel much of the world with the World Plowing Match group and enjoyed the last 25 years spending his winters in Florida.
Bob was a friendly and outgoing person who always had time for a joke or story. He enjoyed spending time with friends and especially enjoyed his grandkids and great-grandkids. He will be missed for his kind gestures, sharp humour and sound advice.
Friends and family attended a visitation at Riverside Funeral Home in Brussels on Tuesday July, 2 and the funeral service followed at Brussels United Church on Wednesday, July 3.
In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, donations to Brussels United Church and the Brussels Lions Club would be appreciated by the family.
