Robert Edward Burkholder

After a courageous five-year battle with cancer, Robert Edward Burkholder passed away at home, surrounded by his family on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017. He was in his 60th year.

Rob was best friend, partner and devoted husband of Kathy for 38 years, loving dad of Chris (Michelle), Rob (Amy) and loving grandpa of Molly, Jack, George, Alice, Henry, Ivy, Emily, Sophia and Dakota. Rob was the brother of Bill (Brenda) and Kathy (Ted) and brother-in-law of Fern (Ward) Showalter, Velma (Neil) Rabey, Donna (Les) Black and Carl Urquhart. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews and his mother-in-law Anne Elliott.

Rob was predeceased by parents George and Nellie, younger brother Wesley, brother-in-law Dave Smith, sister-in-law Beth Urquhart,  and father-in-law Ted Elliott.

Rob loved his family and it showed in his smile and the shine in his eyes when he was with children, always making them feel special. He also loved restoring antique cars especially his 1934 Ford Cabriolet.

Friends and family were received at Riverside Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 6. The funeral service was held on Saturday, Oct. 7.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wingham and District Hospital, Oncology Department, St. John’s Anglican Church, Brussels or Brussels Legion Branch 218 would be appreciated.
