Rene Vercruyssen

Rene Vercruyssen of RR 2, Blyth, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Wingham and District Hospital. Born in Sint-Gillis-Waas, Belgium on May 27, 1936, Rene was in his 81st year.

Rene was the beloved husband of Jenny Vercruyssen and will be sadly missed by his children Ron, Brussels; Evelyn and Richard, Kitchener and John, Shakespeare.  Rene was the dear brother of Emilda Van Poucke, Amherstburg.  He was also loved by his seven grandchildren, his nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by his son Danny.

Friends were received by the family at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels on Sunday, March 26 prior to the funeral service which was conducted  at 2 p.m. Mr. Bruce Collins officiated. Remembrances of Rene were given by Mia Collins, his stepdaughter Evelyn and son Ron.

Burial took place in Brussels Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Bachert, Lucas Biesinger, Richard Fiedler, Rick Poels, Ronnie Vercruyssen and Ron Vercruyssen.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
