Mary (Betty) Daer
At Clinton Public Hospital on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023, Mrs. Mary (Betty) Daer passed away in her 83rd year.
Betty grew up in Brussels Ontario and moved to Goderich in 1956 to work for Bell Telephone. When the Goderich office closed, she started working at the Clinton office before retiring from the Stratford office in 1995. She lived in Clinton most of her life.
Betty is predeceased by her husband Joseph, son Perry Daer, parents Jack and Isabel Alcock (Brussels), brothers Ken, Ross and Bill (Helene) Alcock, stepbrothers Tom and Frank Alcock and by her goddaughter and niece Pamela Alcock Baker (2018).
She is survived by son Dean and wife Debra (Bayfield), their son Catlin and his daughter Alaena; daughter Debbie Jones and her children, Kevin and Jodi Jones (Clinton) Randy Jones and his friend Malika Kelly (London) and Michael and Bobbie Jones (Manitoulin Island); great-grandchildren Tristan and Taylor Jones, Reese, Hanna and Payton Jones, Perri Lynn Jones; great-great-grandson Kastan, and grandson Tyler Daer (Perry Daer). She is also survived by her brother Murray (Barb) Alcock (Goderich), sisters-in-law Carol Alcock (Goderich) Cora Alcock (Brussels), and daughter-in-law Shelley Jaco (Port Coquitlam).
Betty will be missed by all her family, nieces and nephews, best friend and travel companion Marion (Durnin) Oke, neighbour and friend Deanna Delve, as well as other friends and neighbours. She was truly a wonderful soul. We were all truly blessed to have her in our lives.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a family service at the cemetery at a later date. The family is having a celebration of life at the Fish and Game Club in Clinton on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 2-5 p.m. Donations can be made to any charity of your choice.
