Marjory Ethel (née Hackwell) Fraser
Marjory Ethel (née Hackwell) Fraser, passed away peacefully, on May 5, 2022 at Columbia Forest Long Term Care Home in Waterloo. She was in her 97th year.
Marjory was the loved wife of the late Doug Fraser (2003) for 55 years and the loving mom of Carolyn and Gerry Sullivan, Dianne and the late Phil Blake (2016), Clayton and Bev Fraser and Cheryl and Glenn Mader.
She was the adoring grandma of Mark (Melinda), Craig (Chrissie), Jeremy (Renee), Amanda (Andrew), Sarah (Mike), Emily, and Garett (Cass); the great-grandma of Kacie, Connor, Caden, Porter, Lydia, Everly, Bennett and the sister-in-law of Melva Fraser.
Marjory will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Ethel and Elmer, sister Lois (Rae) Houston and many in-laws.
Marjory was very active in her community at Duffs United Church serving in the UCW for over 40 years. She loved to dance at Family Paradise with Doug and their group of Walton friends. She was an avid gardener and liked to preserve the fruits of her labour. She liked to sew and knit afghans, baby blankets and scarves and hats for the homeless shelter. She hosted many family gatherings on the farm serving made from scratch pies, Christmas pudding and then angel food cake with lemon. She farmed alongside Doug for over 40 years, milking cows for cream and raising beef cattle, pigs and chickens; all the while raising four kids making sure they finished their homework and made it on time to music lessons. Marjory instilled a work ethic and need for education in her children. She will be missed greatly by her family and community.
Friends and family were received at Riverside Funeral Home on Saturday, May 7 for visitation, followed by the funeral service. Rev. Judy Astley officiated. Burial was at Brussels Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to the North Huron Food Share or the Canadian Red Cross (Ukrainian Relief) would be appreciated.
