Lyda Beryl (née Pollard) Cleary
Lyda Beryl (née Pollard) Cleary, passed away peacefully, after a brief battle with cancer, at Providence Care Hospital in Kingston on Friday, May 24, 2019. She was 82.
Beryl will be lovingly remembered by William Cleary, her husband of 57 years, by son Sean (Grace), grandchildren Jason (Kristy) Hall, Brennan, Brigid and Siobhan Cleary, Rose Cleary-Yu, great-grandson Madden Hall, sister-in-law Betty Fanning and by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Beryl is predeceased by daughter Mary, her parents George and Elizabeth Pollard (née Cockerline), and by siblings Ted, Bob, Bill and John Pollard and Janet Whitehouse (née Pollard).
Born and raised in Huron County, Beryl enjoyed her early years there, sharing many happy moments with family and friends. She subsequently spent several years in Whitby and in Nova Scotia, enjoying a successful career working for Durham County and the County of Antigonish, before eventually retiring and spending the last decade in Kingston to be close to her son and grandchildren.
A dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt (Aunt B), she centred her life around her family, supporting them to the fullest of her abilities. While she took enjoyment and great pride in her career accomplishments, her happiest moments included spending time with her family – and shopping for them.
The family received friends at the Wartman Funeral Home in Kingston on Thursday, May 30. The funeral service followed in the chapel. Friends desiring, may contribute by cheque or credit card to the Canadian Celiac Association or a charity of one’s choice.
