Leslie "Les" Stewart
Leslie “Les” Stewart of Ethel, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday Sept. 30, 2020. He was 68.
Les enjoyed spending his time raising chickens and selling the meat and eggs, doing home renovations and tending his flowerbeds. He drove a transport truck for 42 years and volunteered at the Ethel firefighters’ breakfast and the former Grey Central Public School, now North Woods Elementary School flipping pancakes.
Les enjoyed playing baseball and helping with various ball tournaments. Les and his wife Jane entertained many children as Santa and Mrs. Claus for the last three years at the Ethel Hall.
Les was the beloved husband of Jane (Pfeiffer) Stewart, with whom he celebrated 30 years of marriage on Sept. 1. He was the loving father of Lindsay (Tyler) Gingrich and Lauren (Rob) Gray and special papa of Levi and Jackson. Les was the brother-in-law of Mike (Debbie) Pfeiffer and will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Donnie, Jeff, Vincent, Holly (Matt) and Tom (Dana).
Les was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Doris (Marsh) Stewart, sister Eva Stephens and nephew Jason.
A private visitation and service was held at Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood, on Saturday Oct. 3. Pastor Brian Hymers officiated. Interment followed in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to ALS Society or the Grey Firemen’s Association – Ethel Station would be appreciated by the family.
