Joy Thompson
Joy Thompson of Wingham, passed away at Wingham and District Hospital on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021. She was 84.
Joy was the devoted wife of Ken Thompson, Wingham and the loving mother of Byron and Dorothy Thompson, Windsor and Brenda Thompson and Duane England, Ingersoll. She was the cherished grandma of Sarah Thompson, Brett Thompson, Dillon McNally and Brittany McNally and the loved great-grandma of Jayden and Lily McNally.
Joy was the dear sister-in-law of Helen Wilson, Betty Thompson, Ruth Thompson and Phyllis and Keith McLennan. Joy will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Isaac “Zic” and Estella Cowan, sisters Wanda Stapleton, Pauline Hodgins and Maxine Wilson and brother-in-law Keith Thompson.
Joy was a dearly loved wife, mom, grandma and friend. She had a deep love for her family with whom she enjoyed spending time. She was proud of them in so many ways. In her spare time, she could be found playing cards, particularly euchre and cribbage. She also enjoyed fishing with her husband Ken.
Joy’s kind heart and dedication to her family has left a void in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a graveside service will take place in the spring at Wingham Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
