James “Jim” Finlayson of Seaforth
James “Jim” Finlayson of Seaforth, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022. He was 73 years old.
Jim was the beloved husband and best friend of Marian (Duffy) Finlayson for 35 years and the cherished father of Melissa Finlayson and her husband Jason Beuttenmiller, Guelph; the late Andrea Finlayson (2021), and Sarah Masse and her husband Mitch, Zurich.
He was the proud grandpa of Jada, Kyra and Lexi; and papa of Leah, Landon and Dylan. Jim was the dear brother and brother-in-law of Gail Uhler (Bill), Burlington; Diane March (Stephen), Burlington; Teresa Finlayson, Seaforth; Brenda Empey (Ken), Auburn, and Brett Finlayson (Janice), Seaforth. He will be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by parents Mary and Art Finlayson, and brother Brad Finlayson.
Jim was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman; in his younger years he played broomball, baseball, and soccer. Later, he coached the girls’ sports teams, enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping with the RV and travelling. He was a proud member of the Seaforth Fire Department for 29 years. He worked for and eventually retired from the Huron County Highway Department.
Visitation was held at Haskett Funeral Home, Seaforth on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Jim’s Funeral Mass was held at St. James Catholic Church, Seaforth on Thursday, Dec. 22. Father Philip presided.
