James Arthur Knight
James Arthur Knight (Jim) passed away at Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels on Sept. 22, 2021 with his wife and daughters at his side. He was in his 92nd year.
Jim was born in Grey Township on August 30, 1930. He was the beloved husband of Dona Knight (Alexander) for 62 years.
Jim will be sadly missed by his children, Brenda Wheeler and husband, Gerry Wheeler and Karen Knight and husband Pete Cote. He was the loving grandpa of Brooklyn Raney and husband Billy Raney, Brent Wheeler and wife Caroline Wheeler, Brianne Wheeler and friend Paul Fannon, Zan Freeman and fiancée Tascha Klomp, Mark Freeman and fiancée Laura Mennen, David Menheere and Nicole Menheere and friend Glen.
Jim will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, Landen Raney, Blake and Luke Wheeler and Axel Freeman. Jim was the dear brother and brother-in-law of Leslie and Yvonne Knight, Harold Knight, Helen Steele, Dorothy Knight and Peter Fischer, Murray and Silvia Knight, Bob and Joyce Alexander and John and Lois Alexander.
Jim was predeceased by his daughter Carla Jane Knight and siblings Wilma, Berva Caryl, Willis Knight, Marilyn Cooper, Ken Knight and Jack Knight and in-laws Roberta Knight, Aileen Knight, Jack Steele, Robert Caryl, Barbara Knight, Joe and Beatrice Raynard.
Jim grew up on the family farm and, at age 18, he purchased a 200-acre farm two-and-a-half miles south of Cranbrook. In 1971, he sold the farm and moved with his family to Brussels. He worked at CIL, later known as Brussels Agromart. In 1994, Jim retired and enjoyed playing golf, pool, shuffleboard and spending time at the cottage. He belonged to the Lions Club for 55 years and enjoyed selling tickets for the Lions.
A family funeral service was held on Saturday, Sept. 25 at Riverside Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to the Brussels Lions Club would be appreciated.
