Gordon Ernest Jenkins 

Gordon Ernest Jenkins of Blyth passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Feb. 15, 2017. He was 78.

Gord was the loving husband of Pat (Scott). He was predeceased by his first wife Gina (Horbanuik).

He was the loving father of Joel and Leah Jenkins, Jill and Curtis McKee, Devin Jenkins and his fiancée Kansis Howard, and Larissa and Steven McNichol. Gord was the grandpa of Trevor, Jessica and Erik, Julia and Greg, Braxton, Cayden, Hailey, Mannyx and baby McNichol. He will be especially missed by his faithful companion Bandit.

Gord was the brother of Steven and Maxine Jenkins, Mark and Joyce Jenkins and the brother-in-law of Beth deBruyn, Ila and Bill Gadke, John and Anne Scott, Karen Scott, Jim Scott, Bill and Jennifer Scott, Audrey and Lyle Bridge, Kevin Scott, and Allan and Marilyn Scott. He was also the uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Ruth Jenkins and Lottie Scott and brother-in-law Jerry deBruyn.

The Blyth Lions Club was close to Gord’s heart. He joined the club in 1970 and had served two terms as its president in 1974/1975 and 1983/1984.

Gord served as a District A9 Committee Chair for two years, he was the Chair of the Blyth Lions Club Youth Exchange for many years and he was an advisor to the Blyth Leo Club.

Over the years, Gord had been awarded with the Melvin Jones Fellowship and he had been named a life member of the Lions Foundation of Canada and of Multiple District A.

Gord also introduced many new members into the club over the years, including both of his sons, Joel and Devin.

Cremation has taken place.

A celebration of life took place on Monday, Feb. 20 from 1-4 p.m. with a Lions Club service at 1 p.m. at the Wingham Sportsman’s Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Blyth Lions Club park enhancements or One Care would be appreciated.
