Gertrude Florence (Riley) Kellington
Gertrude Florence (Riley) Kellington of Brussels passed away at Huronlea Home for the Aged on Friday, February 26, 2016.
Born in Mitchell on Dec. 5, 1927, Gertrude was in her 89th year.
Gertrude was the wife of William (Bill) Kellington whom she married in November of 1946.
She will be sadly missed by her children Larry and his wife Bonnie, Springfield; son-in-law, Don Jacklin, Brussels; Robert (Bob) and his fiancée Marguerite Thomas, Brussels; Murray and his wife Stephanie, Brussels; Brian and his fiancée Jan Deitner, Norwich and Kevin and his wife Rose, Brussels. Gertrude is also survived by her grandchildren Stephen, Tammy, Sherry, David, Janice, Tom, Kim, Jason, Joel, Brittany, Brandon, Bridget, Victoria, Mitch and Logan, plus numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter Joyce (2014), daughter-in-law Nadine Kellington (2012), brothers Lloyd Riley, Mervin Riley, Harvey Riley and sisters Beatrice Neil, Winnifred Riley and Mima Farr.
Gertrude was an active member of her community involved with Girl Guides, Morningstar Rebekah Lodge, the Horticultural Society, the Brussels United Church Choir and United Church Women.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place.
Friends and family will be welcomed on Saturday, March 5 at Brussels United Church from 10 a.m. until the time of Gertrude’s Memorial Service at noon. Rev. Gary Clark and Pastor Sandra Cable will officiate.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Brussels United Church would be greatly appreciated.
