Florence Catherine Gropp
Florence Catherine Gropp passed away peacefully at Country Meadows Retirement Home on Monday, Jan. 15. Florence was born in Ellice Township, 96 years ago, a daughter of the late Martin John Mogk and former Clara Isabella Gernhaelder.
Florence was the beloved wife of the late Earl Gropp (1979) and loving mother and mother-in-law of Catherine and Ray Scott, Milverton; Elizabeth White (Robert predeceased 2006), Langley, British Columbia; Brian and Barb Gropp, Murray Gropp, all of Stratford; Mark and Bonnie Gropp, Brussels; Judy Hamilton, Milverton and Tim and Darlene Gropp, Stratford.
She will be remembered by 23 grandchildren (two predeceased), 39 great-grandchildren (one predeceased) and six great-great-grandchildren.
Florence was the dear sister and sister-in-law of Isabel and Cam Graul, Dorothy Heipel, Jackie and Andy Gray, Dorothy Mogk and Ada Gropp. She was predeceased by brothers Clarence and Dorothy Mogk, Paul and Laurene Mogk, Harvey and Mae Mogk, Earl Mogk and William Mogk, both in infancy, sisters Georgine (Allen) McLeod, Viola (Clayton) Luckhardt, brother-in-law Raymond Heipel, and Carl Gropp.
Florence was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she was part of the sewing circle, choir and Lutheran Church Women. She enjoyed quilting, baking, canning, gardening and showing items at many agricultural fairs. She was a life member of the Gravelridge Women’s Institute. She was a feisty spirit who enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home. The funeral service was held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Thursday, Jan. 18. Pastor Barry Boeckner officiated. Spring interment is in Greenwood Cemetery.
