Five Huron Heat teams turn their attention towards OWHA Provincials

Five Huron Heat teams have qualified for the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) provincial championships, set to be held on the weekend of April 11-13 in the Toronto area: they are the U9 B, U9 C, U11 C, U13 B and U13 C Heat teams. Then, on the weekend of April 4-6, the U9 HL Heat will be part of the Western Ontario Girls Hockey League (WOGHL) championship tournament in St. Marys.
In the meantime, however, there is other hockey to be played.
This weekend, the U11 A Heat will be in Toronto for the Toronto Leaside March Match-up, beginning on Friday, March 21 with games against the Markham Stouffville Stars and the Lambeth Lancers. The next day, the team has games scheduled with the Central York Panthers and the Burlington Barracudas, all in the hopes of reaching championship play on Sunday.
On Friday, March 21, the U9 C Heat have a regular season game with the Woodstock Wildcats in Seaforth, while, the next day, the U9 B Heat and the U9 HL Heat have regular season games with the Kitchener Lady Rangers and the St. Thomas Panthers, respectively, both in Seaforth.
Also on March 22, the U13 C Heat will host a playoff game with the Stratford Aces in Seaforth, while the U7 team will be on the road for the annual Sarnia Jamboree.
On Sunday, March 23, the U13 HL Heat will host a playoff game with Lucan/Ilderton and the Senior C team will continue its playoff run with a game against Elma Logan, both in Brussels, and the Senior team will host a playoff game with Seaforth in Hensall. Also that day, the U9 C Heat will play a regular season game with the Stratford Aces in Clinton.
As a new week begins, on Monday, March 24, the U15 B Heat will be in St. Marys for a playoff game with the Rock. That’s it then for games over the course of the week until Saturday, March 29 when the U9 B Heat play the London Devilettes and the U9 HL team plays the Stratford Aces, both on the road.
Looking back, on Sunday, March 16, the U11 C Heat lost their playoff game with the Woodstock Wildcats in Clinton by a score of 3-0, the U9 B Heat won their regular season game with the Saugeen Shores Storm on the road by a score of 6-0, the U18 C Heat tied their playoff game with the Lucan Irish at two on the road and the U15 C Heat beat the Lambton Attack by a score of 2-0 in their playoff game in Seaforth. The Senior C team was on the road for a playoff game with Elma Logan and the Senior team played Seaforth on the road in another playoff game that night, but scores for those games were unavailable at press time.
On Saturday, March 15, the U9 C Heat lost their regular season game with the Irish in Lucan by a score of 5-0 and the U9 HL Heat beat the Sarnia Lady Sting Black in a regular season game in Zurich by a score of 3-2. In playoff action, the U13 HL tied the Tillsonburg Lightning at two on the road and the U15 C Heat also tied the Ilderton Jets at two, also on the road.
In mid-week action, the U9 B Heat hosted a regular season game with the Grand River Mustangs in Brussels on March 18 and the U15 C Heat hosted a playoff game with the Lambton Attack on March 20, also in Brussels, but scores for those games were unavailable at press time.
