Edythe Lillian Margaret (nee Walker) Glousher
Edythe Lillian Margaret (née Walker) Glousher passed away peacefully at Braemar Retirement Centre, Wingham on July 20, 2021. She was in her 83rd year.
Edythe was the loving wife of the late Stanley Glousher (2007) for 45 years and the proud mom of Debra (Albert) Stryker, the late David Glousher (1966), Michael Glousher and Donna (Scott) Young. She was the grandma of Shawna (Tim) Pavao, Jason (Dana) Stryker, Nick (Dakota) Stryker, Katie (Matt) Starzecki, Jessica and David Young; the great-grandma of 10 and the great-great-grandma of seven.
Edythe was the sister-in-law of Carol Walker, Doris (Harold) McClinchey and Marjorie Battler. She was predeceased by her parents Lorne and Lillian Walker, brothers Elmer in infancy and James Walker (2012), in-laws Wilmer, Jack and Lloyd Glousher and Thelma Deveau.
Edythe was a proud member of the Blyth Legion Ladies Auxiliary for 45 years and the Blyth Legion for 39 years. She loved to bake and was famous for her tea biscuits and elderberry pie, which she prepared for many Legion events, and many Thresher Reunions, in which she also loved to participate.
Her biggest love was for her family, which showed in her dedication to them. She enjoyed watching the Toronto Maple Leafs and cheering them on loudly to whomever would listen. She played crib and Lost Heir and watched old western movies, especially if they had John Wayne in them.
She had a sweet smile that hid her feisty spirit, and a heavy foot on her scooter. Edythe was a large part of the Blyth community, and she will be remembered and missed greatly.
Visitation took place at Riverside Funeral Home Blyth Chapel on Friday, July 23. A graveside funeral service took place at Blyth Union Cemetery on Saturday, July 24. Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiated.
In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to the Blyth Legion Ladies Auxiliary or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.
