Edna (Elliott) Davis
At Huronlea Home for the Aged, on Friday, March 3, 2017, Mrs. Edna Davis of Wingham passed away. She was 99 years old.
The former Edna Elliott, wife of the late Walter "Miller" Davis, who predeceased her in 1979, is the last surviving member of the Alexander and Elizabeth (Magee) Elliott family. Edna was predeceased by her sisters Irene Elliott and Dorothy Ryan and by her brothers William, Norman, Edward and Lloyd Elliott. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.
In her early working life, Edna and her husband Miller operated Holmedale Creamery in Wingham. Later she worked at the Wingham Advance Times and in the office at Wingham District High School. Edna then started a career teaching in the commercial department of F.E. Madill Secondary School. Her interests included the Huron Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Paul's Trinity Anglican Church and the Ladies Auxiliary at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 180.
Visitation will be held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Saturday, March 11, from noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Richard Hall officiating.
Interment will be in Wingham Cemetery, Wingham, Ontario.
Memorial donations to Wingham and District Hospital Foundation or St. Paul's Trinity Anglican Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
