Douglas Evans
Douglas Evans of Ethel, passed away unexpectedly at Guelph General Hospital on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015. He was 79.
Doug owned and operated Evans Hardware in Ethel and drove a school bus for many years. He was a former volunteer firefighter on the Ethel Fire Department. Doug will be remembered by his friends and neighbours for his friendship and commitment to his community over the years. Doug was a family man and cherished the time spent with his family.
He was the beloved husband of the late Jean (McFarlane) Evans, who predeceased him in 2011. Doug was the loving father of Cindy and Paul Fallis, Bonnie and Steve Conners and Roger Evans; the special papa of Evan, Allie, Abi, Riley, Will and Cole and the dear brother of Bev and Herb Brenneman, Barb Consitt, Gary and Sharon Evans, Brian and Karin Evans, Pat and Barry Taylor and brother-in-law Jack Fish. He will be lovingly remembered by Andrea Evans, special friend Barb Currie and many nieces and nephews.
Doug was predeceased by his parents Stuart and Grace (Perdue) Evans, brother-in-law Tom Consitt and sister-in-law Mary Lou Fish.
Relatives and friends were invited to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood on Tuesday, Dec. 8. The funeral service to celebrate Doug’s life was held at the Grey Township Fire Hall, Ethel on Wednesday, Dec. 9. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Grey Township Fire Department, Ethel Station will be appreciated by the family.
