Don Joseph Poppe
On Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, a beautiful sunny morning, Donald Joseph Poppe peacefully passed away at London University Hospital.
Don was born in Seaforth on Mar. 30, 1971 to Willy and Wilhelmina Poppe and was one of eight children. He will be dearly missed by his siblings and their families: Linda Sinnamon (Brock), Lisa Rapien (Brad), Jim Poppe (Nicole), Brian Poppe (Liz), Rose DeJong (Dan), Rick Poppe (Ange) and Steve Poppe (Janine). He is also survived and dearly missed by his mother-and father-in-law Deb and Gord Phillips, sister-in-law Niki Saunders (Scott), and brother-in-law Toby Phillips (Ange).
Don and his wife, Amanda, were high school sweethearts and were happily married for 31 years. They had four children Jordan, Justin (Hayley), Ryan and Grayce who gave him great joy and of whom he was immensely proud. They, in turn, were immensely proud of their dad and loved him dearly.
Don was a very special Opa to Joseph and Timmy, and always had cheese balls, jujubes and jellybeans on hand for them.
Don was well-loved by many and will be greatly missed by friends and family alike. He was always helping others and would give the shirt off his back to help a friend. Don could often be found with a hammer in one hand and a coffee in the other.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Willy and Wilhelmina; and nephew, Eli Rapien.
Visitation was held at Haskett Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Don’s funeral mass was held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dublin on Thursday, Jan. 19 followed by a lunch at the Dublin Pavilion Hall. Father Philip presided. Spring Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dublin.
Donation to the London Health Sciences Foundation - Clinical Neurosciences Program would be appreciated by the family.
