David Dennis Hedley
David Dennis Hedley passed away on June 17, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones at the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich. He was 80.
David had a very full and happy life with his loving wife of 36 years, Gloria. He was stepfather of Terry, Les and Michael and adopted son Andy. David is also survived by his loving sister Margie Kirkorian, sister-in-law Margaret and brother-in-law Goldie. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
David was predeceased by his parents Eldon and Aileen Hedley, his first wife Fern Nethery, brother Albert and sister Jackie.
David had a very colourful life. He graduated from Beal University with an Architectural Drafting Diploma. He worked at the University of Waterloo for quite a few years. While there he became interested in flying and became a pilot, flying Cessnas. He flew in Canada and the U.S. including a trip to the Belcher Islands, Northwest Territories.
When he left the university, he started a construction company and also started a fish farm, Hedley’s Trout Farm. David and his wife Gloria raised rainbow trout, cleaning, filleted and vacuum packing them to sell to grocery stores, restaurants and at the door.
He also stocked private ponds and had a fish-out pond. He had wonderful customers.
David also loved music and dancing and enjoyed going to the Kincardine Pavilion to dance to the “Lighthouse Big Band” and to patios to listen to a band called “The Howling Dogs”. He loved getting together with friends to play cards.
At David’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later time. Donations may be made in David’s memory to Huron Residential Hospice. Friends may sign the book of condolences at www.mccallumpalla.ca
