Daniel "Dan" Alexander Pearson

Daniel “Dan” Alexander Pearson, passed away peacefully on Jan. 11, 2023. He was 76.

 

Dan was the beloved husband of Mary Jane (Kropf) for 47 years and the loving dad of Jana Maddocks and Clark Wallace, Dan and Linda Pearson and Tom Pearson and Linda Sayavongs. He was the grandpa of Sasha and Harry Van der Wal, Reece Maddocks and Chloe Rocheleau, Evan, Ryan, and Katelyn Pearson, and “GG” of Liam and Caleb Van der Wal.

 

Dan was the brother of Scott and Gail Pearson, and Steve Pearson and Joan Hatcher and brother-in-law of Teri Pearson and Helene Brassard. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dan was predeceased by parents Alec and Edna, brothers Jim and Doug Pearson and brother-in-law Barry Hatcher.

 

Dan was the master of small talk; he could chat to anyone about anything. He was gregarious, optimistic, and well known in his community. Dan was a life-time member of the Brussels Optimist Club. He loved curling and played baseball at the tri-county level. Dan was an avid golfer, a sport he enjoyed playing with his sons, grandsons, and many friends. He was political, working at the Brussels constituency office for 13 years and loved a good discussion about federal politics. Dan was a great at-home bartender making caesars and tall rum and cokes. But mostly, Dan loved his family. He instilled a level of respect and the notion of work hard/play hard. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids, always taking the time to explain and educate, but not forgetting the importance of having fun. Dan was a welcome addition to any gathering and brought many smiles and laughs with him. He will always be remembered for his outgoing personality.

 

As per Dan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

 

In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to Muscular Dystrophy Canada would be appreciated.
