Catherine Verna Glanville (née Zimmer)
Catherine Verna Glanville (née Zimmer), of Lucknow and formerly of Walton, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at the Wingham and District Hospital on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017. Born in Zurich on March 22, 1949, Cathy was in her 68th year.
Cathy was the loving wife of Les Glanville, Lucknow and the cherished mother of Doris (Lyle) Hood, Seaforth; Veronica (Steve) Stevenson, Brussels and the late John Leslie Glanville (1981). She was the beloved Grandma Kitty of William (Robin), Wyatt and Leah.
Cathy will be deeply missed by sisters, Evelyn, Egmondville; Annette (Brent), London; Mary Ellen Williamson, Thorndale and her brother Leo (Janet) Zimmer, British Columbia and Jack Doyle, Toronto.
Cathy was predeceased by her parents Earle Zimmer and the former Genevieve LaPlante, step-father Mike Doyle, three sisters, Barbara Arnezeder, Patricia Dawson and Rose Doyle, and her brother Carl Zimmer.
She fills the hearts but leaves an empty chair at the Glanville family table and will be fondly remembered by her Glanville in-laws, Lloyd (Mabel), Brussels; Alex (Gail), Saskatchewan; Ken (Betty), RR 4, Walton; Lorne (Bonnie), RR 4, Walton; Roy (Karleen), Rostock; Marj (Richard) Horst, Harpurhey; Eileen Duncan (Eric McGregor), Seaforth; Marleen (Don) Hill, Brussels and Arthur, Saskatchewan.
Cathy will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation was held at McGlynn Family Funeral Home, Seaforth, on Monday, Jan. 23. A celebration of Cathy’s life was held in the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Rev. Richard Hall officiated.
Flowerbearers were Wyatt Stevenson, Leah Stevenson, Karleen Glanville. Pallbearers were Steve Stevenson, Lyle Hood, William Stevenson, Lorne Glanville, Roy Glanville and Ingolf Christensen.
A reception immediately followed in the Northside United Church Hall, Seaforth. Spring interment will take place in Maitland Bank Cemetery, McKillop Township.
