Carol Anne (Lyon) MacKay
After a short and courageous battle with cancer, Carol Anne (Lyon) MacKay of Highland Apartments in Brussels, and formerly of Wingham, passed away at Wingham and District Hospital, with family at her side, on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025 at the age of 79.
Left to mourn is her husband of almost 58 years, Mac MacKay, her children Ian and Bonnie MacKay of Windsor, Rob MacKay of London, Mike and Michelle MacKay of Kitchener, and Jamie and Karen MacKay of Wingham, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sisters Marilyn and Rick Dinham, and Bev and Rick Bula, and sister-in-law Cathy Lyon and Mark Fusco, all of Windsor.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, William and Ruth Lyon, parents-in-law Gordon and Connie MacKay, and brother John Lyon.
A cherished member of the community, Carol was known for her warm smile and dedication as a bank teller for many years. She was also a proud and active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 180 Ladies Auxiliary, where she devoted much of her time. Her kindness and commitment to helping others and supporting her family will be fondly remembered.
Visitation will be held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Friday, Feb. 21 from 10-11 a.m. A Legion Auxiliary Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. followed by the funeral service, and a reception will follow at the Wingham Legion. Spring interment will be in Wingham Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation or Wingham Legion Br. 180 would be appreciated by the family.
