The first home game of the season for a Blyth Brussels Crusaders team ended in a 2-2 draw last Friday night when the U11 Rep team tied the Kincardine Kinucks at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre.
Also that night, the U21 team welcomed the Huron-Bruce Blizzard to the Brussels arena, although a score for that game was unavailable at press time. The team was back in action the next night, however, and lost to the Shallow Lake Lakers on the road by a score of 9-0.
On Sunday, the U21 team played its third game in as many days and lost to the Capitals in Walkerton by a score of 7-1. Also that day, the U11 Rep team played the Bruce Peninsula Predators in Wiarton, but the high-scoring affair ended in a 6-6 tie. In Goderich that night, the U18 Rep team played the Sailors and that game too ended in a tie, with both teams scoring three goals each.
On Tuesday, the U15 Rep team hosted the Central Perth Predators in Brussels and, on Thursday, the U18 LL team played the Mid-Huron Huskies 2 team in Hensall, but scores for those games were unavailable at press time.
Looking ahead, tonight, Friday, Oct. 25, the U11 LL team will play the Drayton Defenders White team and the U21 Crusaders will play the Shallow Lake Lakers, both in Brussels.
The next day, the U11 Rep team will play the Capitals in Walkerton, while the U15 Rep team will play the Owen Sound Junior Attack in the first game of the season to be played at the Blyth and District Community Centre. That evening, the U18 Rep team will play the Mitchell Meteors in Brussels and the U15 LL team will play the Kincardine Kinucks in Tiverton.
On Sunday, the U13 LL team will play the Mount Forest Rams on the road, the U9 LL team will host the Minto Mad Dogs in Blyth, the U15 Rep team will play the Sailors in Goderich and the U21 team will play the Mitchell Meteors on the road.
The U13 Rep Crusaders will then head to Hensall for a game with the Mid-Huron Huskies on Monday, while their U15 LL counterparts will also play a Mid-Huron Huskies team in Blyth that night.
On Oct. 30, the U11 Rep team will play the Meteors in Mitchell before all teams skip Halloween, allowing the Crusaders to do some trick-or-treating in the neighbourhood.
