Alvin “Ted” Bernell Smith

Alvin “Ted” Bernell Smith of Listowel passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, in his 88th year.

 

The loving husband of Marg (McCutcheon) Smith for 66 years, Ted was the father of Blair Smith and Kelly Mason, and Brian and Liz Smith, all of Golden, British Columbia, and Brad and Becky Smith of Listowel.  

 

He was the grandfather of Tanya, Candice, Taylor, Kyle, Andrew, Cooper, Kaden and Mason, and great-grandfather of Rylan, Raina, and Acadia and loved also by his faithful furry friend Jaxon.  

 

Ted was the brother of Lorraine Montgomery, and Connie Willoughby, both of Wroxeter, and brother-in-law of Betty McCutcheon, and Esther McCutcheon, both of Brussels, and Jeannette McCutcheon of Kelowna, British Columbia.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, Alvin “Teddy’ and Ethelene (Douglas) Smith, his sisters Faye Gibson, and Marlene Sinnamon, and by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Bruce Montgomery, Doug Gibson, John Sinnamon, Casey (Gwen) McCutcheon, George (Barb) McCutcheon, Annie (Lorne) Bryans, Berva (Jack) Rice, Lorne McCutcheon, Fred (Mary) McCutcheon, Jack McCutcheon, Bill McCutcheon, Bob McCutcheon, and Mel (Lois) McCutcheon.

 

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Nov. 26 from 1-4 p.m.  The funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, Listowel, on Monday, Nov. 27 at 11 a.m., with reception to follow in the church hall. The service will be live-streamed and the link available on the funeral home website.

 

Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery (formerly McCutcheon Cemetery).
