Agnes "Nan" Gore
A long-time Blyth merchant Agnes “Nan” Gore died at Woodingford Nursing Home, Woodstock on Monday, Sept. 5, 2016. She was in her 84th year.
Nan and her husband Eugene came to Blyth from Aurora in November, 1974 when they purchased the hardware store operated by Tom and Cheryl Cronin, located in the building most recently occupied by Sharon’s Cars and Miniatures.
The couple operated Gores’ Home Hardware together until Gene’s death in 1997 and Nan continued on her own until 2004.
With her friendly manner and delightful Scottish lilt, Nan had many friends in Blyth where she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Blyth United Church.
She was the daughter of the late William and Agnes Clark. She is survived by Bill Clark and his wife Heather, Brantford; Doris Clark, Burford and Dorcas Clark, Brampton. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert and John Clark.
The funeral service was held at Blyth United Church on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 at 1 p.m. following a one hour visitation period. Rev. Gary Clark officiated. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery.
